| Lucy Lewis was one of the matriarchs of the Acoma revival of ancient pottery traditions. Perhaps the most famous potter in Acoma history, Lucy was the first to sign her work--but that did not happen until 1950, fully 30 years after she started making pottery. Besides traditional vessel shapes decorated with fineline or polychrome designs, Lucy made numerous small pottery animal figures that were very popular with collectors. |
