Harrison Begay, Jr.
Deeply carved mythological designs.
Although Harrison Begay is Navajo, he was once married to a Santa Clara woman and learned pottery making while living at the Pueblo. His pottery is made in the traditional Santa Clara way, but his bold, carved designs are evocative of Navajo mythology and some even more ancient--dragonfly, buffalo, bear, spiral. The designs are sometimes emphasized with a matte finish. His pottery ranges in color from natural red through all shades to black depending upon the firing process.
Tribe/Pueblo: Dine (Navajo)
Harrison Begay, strictly geometric black vase.
Deep carving outlines a plethora of geometric shapes in both matte finish and high polish. Signed....
